The program can't find any usable optical drives.

Post by mukiex »

I've got a USB Blu-Ray drive plugged into my system, and it looks to be recognized just fine by the OS (I can mount it and whatnot), but MakeMKV can't seem to find it when it starts:

001005:0000 MakeMKV v1.8.13 linux(x64-release) started
001004:0000 Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as /bourne/home/mukiex/MakeMKV_log.txt
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at voI7c[y%'0U9B8OQzyvU:29394620
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at Ffj*aFHSg$2O(,8:121262141
005042:0000 The program can't find any usable optical drives.
csf8=1
csf6

Is there any sort of group or permissions setting I'm missing? I can't run MakeMKV as root to offset this (it fails to load under both kdesu and gksu)

I have the same problem:

Debug log started at Sun Nov 2 18:43:27 2014 , written by MakeMKV v1.8.14 linux(x64-release)
Using 524544KB for read cache.
001005:0000 MakeMKV v1.8.14 linux(x64-release) started
001004:0000 Debug logging enabled, log will be saved as /home/server/MakeMKV_log.txt
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at gKykq`!E>L/_9&DV%Ka(:29394620
001003:0020 DEBUG: Code 0 at ?Zd@DvdwuIFRl'}:121262141

Machine info:
OS: CentOS 7 x64
Optical drive: HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW GGC-H20L (1.02)
Optical drive is seen as /dev/sr0 by the OS. I also have a link from /dev/cdrom to /dev/sr0

The odd thing is that makemkvcon can see it (disk:0) and I have ripped a BD disk with it just fine, its just annoying to do so and I would like to use the GUI.

If there is any further diagnostic information anyone needs Please let me know!
