CentOS 7 LIBAVCODEC_VERSION_MAJOR is not known

Post by boogy886 »

I cannot find a solution to this problem on my CentOS 7 install. I can proceed with the make and then sudo make install, but upon launching MakeMKV, I get an error "Application Failed to Initialize"

Any ideas for a solution?

I just way building makemkv today on Centos 7. I saw this error when I was using fdk-aac with ffmpeg. The ffmpeg test doesn't find the fdk-aac library, when it's shared (and probably can't use it if it could). The only way to tell if you have the same error as me is digging through config.log

I cleaned all my trees (totally deleted), ffmpeg seems very keen to try and used the shared lib version of fdk-aac, so there needs to be no trace of it.

How I got this to work, if you have the same error as me.

Code: Select all

cd /home/simpz/Download

mkdir makemkvbuild

cd makemkvbuild

Untarring an ffmpeg source from:
http://ffmpeg.org/download.html

Sources came out at ffmpeg-2.8 under /home/simpz/Download/makemkvbuild

mkdir ffmpeg

FDK-AAC
=======
Downloaded from https://github.com/mstorsjo/fdk-aac/tarball/master

wget -O fdk-aac.tar.gz https://github.com/mstorsjo/fdk-aac/tarball/master

tar xvf fdk-aac-0.1.0.tar.gz

cd fdk-aac-0.1.0/
autoreconf -fiv

./configure --prefix=/home/simpz/Download/makemkvbuild/ffmpeg --disable-shared --with-pic

make
make install

FFMPEG
======
cd ../ffmpeg-2.8

PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/home/simpz/Download/makemkvbuild/ffmpeg/lib/pkgconfig ./configure --pkg-config-flags="--static" --prefix=/home/simpz/Download/makemkvbuild/ffmpeg --enable-static --disable-shared --enable-pic --disable-yasm --enable-libfdk-aac

make
make install

My configure line for makemkv-oss compile was then just (I wanted it all to end up in /usr/local):

PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/home/simpz/Download/makemkvbuild/ffmpeg/lib/pkgconfig ./configure --prefix=/usr/local

Hope this helps you in some way
