daspi.kext killed DVD Player audio

Subject says it all.. I installed the daspi.kext file (I wasn't asked it was early on in my playing with MakeMKV) and didn't think much about it when I did it at the time. Without connecting the two I found that my DVD Player audio wasn't working.. on a lark I removed that kext and instantly DVD Player audio worked again.. Should that behavior be expected?
