I have a flashed LG WP50NB40 NB52. Below are the details from MakeMKV:

Drive Information
Manufacturer: HL-DT-ST
Product: BD-RE BP60NB10
Revision: 1.00
Serial number: SIM21LBF84058
Firmware date: 2117-11-21 17:20
Bus encryption flags: 17
Highest AACS version: 77

LibreDrive Information
Status: Enabled
Drive platform: MT1959
Firmware type: Patched (microcode access re-enabled)
Firmware version: 1.00
DVD all regions: Yes
BD raw data read: Yes
BD raw metadata read: Yes
Unrestricted read speed: Yes

When using this drive on Windows I don't have any issues ripping but on my new MacBook Pro M3 Pro I'm not able to open the disc. Here is the output I get:

MakeMKV v1.17.5 darwin(arm64-release) started
Optical drive "BD-RE HL-DT-ST BD-RE BP60NB10 1.00 SIM21LBF84058d" opened in OS access mode.
Downloading latest SDF to /...
Automatic SDF downloading is disabled or failed.
Using LibreDrive mode (v06.3 id=4ACF8047C3AC)
Using direct disc access mode
Evaluation version, 30 day(s) out of 30 remaining
Loaded content hash table, will verify integrity of M2TS files.
Downloading latest HK to / ...
Automatic HK downloading is disabled or failed.
Saved AACS dump file as Library/MakeMKV/MKB20_v61_Interstellar_194F.tgz
The volume key is unknown for this disc - video can't be decrypted
Failed to open disc

I tried multiple movies and can't open any of them. Is my drive just not compatible with Mac or do I need to flash it with different firmware?

Thanks!

Your Mac can't access the site to download the information on the movie you're trying to rip. Is it on internet?

Yep, connected to the internet.

Then something has disabled or is blocking it from accessing the server to get the key from.

In settings, under General, is Enable Internet access checked? If so, what are you using for DNS servers on that machine? You may have an issue with blocking, because it's saying it can't connect.

I'm using 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 at my router for DNS and I have enable internet access checked. Does MakeMKV use ports other than 80 and 443? I tried digging for ports that might need to be opened but not seeing anything. This is an M3 Pro MacBook if that matters.

Something might be blocking you from accessing the site that hosts keys.

hkdata.crabdance.com or hkdata.fairuse.org not found

The first few posts are from 2019, but they get more relevant when the posts get to 2023.

This helped steer me into the right direction. I didn't modify anything on my router but I did connect to VPN and all looks good now.

Thanks for the help folks!
