Hi,

Is there any way to get true FEL DV playback from MKVs and an nVidia Shield?

I believe you will only get MEL playback and not the true DV playback as you would with a native disc and player?

Any ideas?

There's this giant thread: Dolby Vision now possible through MP4 Mux.

In that thread you'll find a user named RESET_9999 and in his signature is a link to Dolby Vision Stuff. One of the tabs in the linked Google spreadsheet is DoVi Playback Devices, which has his testing results for the various playback devices.

Generally speaking the 2019 Nvidia Shield is listed as NO for profile 7 FEL playback support.
