I've sent the dump file to svq@makemkv.com. This blu ray disc apparently phones home and requires a code before playing in a conventional blu ray player of PowerDVD

That does not make sense. Expecting a standalone Blu-ray player to be connected to the internet is just plain stupid. No manufacturer would assume that. It would result in lots of discs being returned as defective. Something else must be going on.

It gives you alternatives of getting the code by text or email

I had exactly the same experience trying to load the disk with PowerDVD. However, the disk does work fine in a conventional bluray player that is not connected to the internet.

Makemkv reports 4 possible mpls files, 800, 801,802 and 803. And, it says it needs a FUT.

I was hoping for some direction here.

800 is the English version. Differences between versions is in the title and credit screens, and possibly some scenes in the movie where signs are displayed. This is standard Disney protocol.

FUTs is a separate matter.

And stand-alone BD players DO phone home if connected to a network. They sell you on letting them do it by including games and such on BDs that need a network connection.

It also appears to only request the code the first time the title is played. Subsequent playbacks in PowerDVD didn't request the code.

Given the initial request was made only a few days earlier, a little patience may be in order.

This issue sounds like Street Lock Protection. It thinks you are trying to play the movie before street date.

I realize you posted this Tuesday which should have been okay but the date is wrong somewhere.

However - if Fox is now requiring this on all their movies I guess I have stopped purchasing my last Fox title.

What?

"Street Lock" - a patent for this was issued to Irdeto back in 2012. Was implemented through BD+ and would block the content until street date, requiring an internet connection.
I believe only a single movie came out with this.
The lock - in that case - was limited to software players, iirc, because otherwise it would have made 90% of the buyers very angry.

I got the Bluray yesterday and I managad to rip it, but there is a huge problem in the ripped files.

I have picture distortions throughout the whole film. I ripped all four versions and all versions have them. There are no messages shown when ripping.
I ripped another Bluray before and one afterwards which don't have these problems.

What can this be? I think I need help!
Thank you!

What you describe is what happens when BD+ isn't being taken care of. You should have gotten a "No FUTs" message in this case.

Do you allow MakeMKV to check for updates? Preferences->General, "Allow contacting web server for updates" should be checked, so that MakeMKV can look for the proper SVQ file to deal with this "final line" of copy protection.

Yes,, if I remember correctly there was this message. I didn't know what that meant. But now I know! Thank you!

I think I have it checked, but I will take a look at it this evening. Thank you!

Does anyone know what's the correct German version?
I saw that in 801 there is a French or Italian text at the beginning.

Thank you!
