Hi!
Disc type: HD DVD-ROM

If, in fact, as your log indicates, this is an HD-DVD, be advised that there are VERY FEW HD-DVDs that MakeMKV is capable of fully processing...

Im confused now because the disc clearly looks like a Blu Ray. It says BluRay on it. Would an HD DVD even play on my blu ray player? Would they put an HDDVD movie on a Blu Ray disc?

Looks like I've misinterpreted the information generated in your log - your Pioneer drive is not capable of reading HD-DVDs (Plus a couple of lines later, the disc is identified as BD-ROM), so I'm now as perplexed as you are. Sorry...

The disc is physically damaged. You may try to increase IO retry count per http://www.makemkv.com/faq/item/7/catid/6 . Mac OS sometimes reports disc type incorrectly, hence the confusion with HD-DVD disc type.
