I have no idea how AACS works, other than it is an encryption key that MakeMKV uses, but the common problem seem to affect systems that have not updated to the new version of MakeMKV as well.

Could it be that the AACS encryption key accesses an online service somewhere and that access has been revoked, or terminated? Just saying that this hit allot of drives all at once, whether you were running old or new version of MakeMKV.

I have reinstalled 1.14.2 with the current beta key, NOT WORKING!

For everyone who has an LG WH16NS40 drive, consider upgrading your drive's FW. I too had the exact same problem as highlighted in this thread while I was on version 1.02. Today I upgraded to 1.03 and it completely resolved the issue I was seeing.

If you do this, don't you lose your ability to read UHD discs?

I definitely recommend not to update the firmware.

I recieve this error on all my LG blu ray drives, both internal and external.

External Drive:
LG BP50NB40 1.0

Throws code but appears to operate normally otherwise.

Internal Drives (3 Total):
LG WW14NS40 1.02

Hangs on decrypting for exactly 15 minute and then behaves normally.

Everyday I check and it still hangs with this error:

I have even reset my entire computer by doing a clean install of Windows 10 and then reinstalling Make MKV. Nothing helps. It was working just fine last week. I've been having this same error and hanging issue since Saturday January 26, 2019. I keep hoping it will get fixed. Any relief in sight?

I am using an LG Slim portable Blu-ray/DVD writer. Model BP50NB40.

I would also recommend not upgrading the firmware, when I got my drive original I had firmware 1.03 and it refused to read any UHD disc until I downgraded to version 1.02.

On a side note, this issue is definitive a problem with MakeMKV because the same drive under windows works perfectly with AnyDVD and DeUHD under windows for UHD disc. I also have no problems with AnyDVD ripping BD disc either.

Mike if you're reading this please fix MakeMKV, something has changed and I can't rip UHD or BD's with this drive, which is unfortunate because I like using MakeMKV for its ability to work under Linux. For now my system is dual booted with Windows with AnyDVD, which is working perfectly with this drive.

Please fix your software, I have a paid key and really like using it. I'm still continuing to use MakeMKV to create the Mkv's from a ripped folder structure. But I would prefer to make the rip backup using MakeMKV.

Makemkv was working fine until this morning. Every UHD disc I tried to open failed. I had previously backed up John Wick 4K without a problem. Tried it again this morning. Got the following:

Using: WH14NS40 1.02d on a mac, not possible to update firmware from a mac.

A quick workaround until a solution is found: I downloaded AnyDVD (the trial version will work), and now I can at least rip normal Blu Rays....
