I am getting the same issue... It stopped working on Saturday. I get a DEBUG error which i mentioned earlier and takes forever to scan the disc. It appears to be a problem with the de-encryption (does MakeMKV call home to rip discs? It could be the reason). No matter what Blu-Ray disc I use (even earlier ones that were ripped), the programs hangs.

If I enable SlySoft's AnyDVD and use it to decrypt the disc, then there are no issues. The program scans the disc and proceeds normally (after the MakeMKV warning about another program decrypting the disc). I noted that AnyDVD must be launched before MakeMKV for it to work. If not, AnyDVD does not turn on.

Another thing I noticed... When MakeMKV crashes, it seems to corrupt Windows 10 Pro. I cannot shut down my PC, it just hangs in the SHUTTING DOWN screen. I have to manually power down the PC. If I use AnyDVD to decrypt the disc, the PC will shut down normally. If I do not use MakeMKV, the PC behaves normally and shuts down as well.

I am using a LG HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH16NS40 Blu-Ray drive connected via SATA cable, not a USB External drive.

I have noticed the same thing as jon96789, my Windows 7 machine will also hang and not complete its shutdown sequence.

Windows starts acting up, have to do a manual restart. Further, after restart, windows stops detecting the BD drive. Unplugging/replugging the SATA and power cables ends up with a blue screen of death and then eventually after another hard restart windows starts operating normally.

Glad to see I'm not alone in the windows corruption issue (thanks for sharing jon96789)

Not saying it is so, but!

Seems to be acting allot like a virus, possibly damaging the Blu-ray drive firmware?

Mine seemed to get worse over a 4 day period, till it no longer could decrypt blu-ray disks.

Maybe something for Mike to look into?

UPDATE Weds 30-Jan-2019: software seems to no be able to rip bluray without issue

I am not having any issues ripping both UHD or BD but did notice a debug code show up in my log on Saturday:

I am using 2 ASUS BC-12B1ST drives both hooked up via sata. I see a lot posts mentioning the ASUS BW-16D1HT and the LG WH16NS40 so I wonder if this is only affecting certain drive models.

I cannot even get DVDs to convert - DEBUG: Code 03DF/02/10F16E86E12A. Using an LG WH14NS40 drive.

I'm getting the same problem. I'm on an LG BH16NS40 drive.

I get this error and every time I try to rip a disc it makes a dump file.

I started getting this DEBUG code yesterday. Ripping a DVD in a blue ray player. This was never a problem before.

I did reboot my system twice before submitting this report.
