Which one is the correct file? Is there a new version of MakeMKV coming that will combat this?

Funny I just came here looking for the same answer. Luckily, there appears to only be one title with the correct run time (found by putting the disc into PS3 and seeing the total length of the movie). That's 00771.mpls and the run time is 1:35:02, although it's the only one with 15 chapters instead of 16. Hopefully it's right, as I haven't watched the movie yet.

yeah that is the same one thought might be it, but the chapter length was different... going to test now. I hear people with AnyDVD HD aren't having issues, but I am OS X so I hope Make MKV brings an update soon.

Mine is ripping as we speak. I, too, am on OS X so AnyDVD is not an option for me either. I'm hoping Mike can get MakeMKV to function similarly soon. He's kept this program top notch so far!

Let me know how you make out, as I won't get to encoding before tomorrow.

This functionality (show which MPLS are fake) is coming to MakeMKV. It's unlikely to be in the next version though. Your only choice for now is to put the disc into BD player and see if it can show playlist being played (either on a LED panel or info button on a remote).

I am ripping this one now, let me know if you do a test and how it goes as I don't plan to watch this right away. I also have anydvd and will do a rip with that as a backup plan.

Alternatively check the BD with BDinfo and test one of the m2ts referenced in the most likely playlist with VLC.

Also here looking for an answer on this annoying new tactic of fake MPLS titles. Always amusing how the movie studios think they are going to prevent ripping (legal or not) with new protection schemes, when they will all eventually be broken by the far more numerous (and ultimately always smarter) public. This scheme in particular doesn't even appear to be technically complex, it seems to have been created with the sole purpose of being annoying, like the movie studios are tired of losing at a game, so they just flip the board up in the air to annoy the other player.

In any case, has any noticed the other annoying trend with Cabin in the Woods that the rental disc appears to NOT have TrueHD lossless audio, and only offers the lossy Dolby Digital track? They pulled this maneuver with The Hunger Games, where the rental discs did not have the lossless track, only the retail version did. Touch?, Hollywood.

Or they pull bs like they did with RED. It was originally released with DTS, then the Special Edition came out with DTS and the regular version just had Dolby.

Hi!

Just to let you know, per tsMuXer (Unless I miscounted)00771.mpls contains 16 chapters, as follows Chapters are separated by semi-colons):
chapters=00:00:00.000;00:05:41.933;00:12:32.246;00:18:39.497;00:24:21.923;00:29:26.560;00:35:02.104;00:41:39.552;00:46:43.147;00:50:57.193;00:54:44.086;01:06:48.528;01:12:51.057;01:16:46.334;01:21:33.412;01:26:58.904;01:35:02.095 --vbv-len=500

Are you all ripping rentals? I don't see 59 titles with the same length. I see about 3 with 16 chapters and are roughly the same length. This is the retail disc.

I'm seeing 3 Titles with 16 chapters of about the same length on the retail disc as well (00060.mpls, 00114.mpls, 00133.mpls).

Anyone know which one is the correct one?

Thx.

FYI, according to the duration of the disk in the blu-ray player, it should be exactly 1:35:02

That would make it 00461.mpls. 15 Chapters @ 22.7 GB.
