I compared all of those titles and the correct one is 159, all the others have repeating segments.

On my copy the correct segments (that match 159) are 182 (815.mpls).

This of course is assuming correct runtime, where did you find the runtime? I usually put it in my blu-ray player and pause once it's started the movie but I haven't had time to do that yet with this one.

I put it in my player as well and got the same run time of 1:53:48. I'll have to look once I open it in MakeMKV.

Any definitive answer on this yet?

Also, maybe I am not looking at it right, but it doesn't look to me like any of the 4 possible mpls have repeats?

This is what VLC automatically started playing.

Runtime 1:56:43 Title 74 and the only one that matches the runtime is 364.

MakeMKV 1.8.8 tells me that the "Primary Title" is 00750.mpls, Ender's_Game_t140.mkv with a duration of 1:53:48 and a segment map of: 513,504,501,510,502,505,514,507,511,508,503,506,509,515,512

Total Media Theater 6 on a second computer also shows it at 1:53:48, I then put it in to my standalone BD player and it too says 1:53:48...

So I am matching a couple of you for runtime, but not everyone

This is the USA Target Steelbook.

Should I go with this 00750.mpls version that MakeMKV picked as the "Primary Title"? This is different from the ones listed above.

EDIT: I have 196 (or 197) different possible choices, and only 1 of them isn't 1:53:48 in length. Ugh.

I'm in the exact same situation as nickbuol. I'm gonna try the "Primary Title" as per Mike that is a new feature to help us find the correct one...but it is not always 100%.

I just got a copy from Redbox (only storing to watch once this weekend and then delete forever) and it comes with the same sort of protection. The latest version of MakeMKV points out which title it thinks is the primary. On this disc, it's:

16 chapters
19.0 GB
Source file name 00752.mpls
Duration 1:52:02
Chapters count: 16
Segment count: 15
Segment map: 502,512,510,516,506,517,515,523,521,525,520,503,507,508,514
File name: Ender's_Game_t151.mkv

I'm ripping now and will confirm soon. Anyone else tried it yet?

815.mpls looks good to me.

i watched the movie on my bluray player 1:53:48 is the time on it and 815.mpls has that time. i quickly skipped (shift+right arrow) through the .mkv rip and everything looked in order. I didn't notice any repeats. can any one else confirm 815.mpls?

the makemkv (primary title) is never right, in my experience.

I tried tappinaway's perl script on Ender's Game, and it also thought 752 was correct, so I guess MakeMKV is using the same technique as tappinaway's script.

But the latest AnyDVD beta (7.4.2.2) says that 815 is the correct title.

I'm about to rip 815 as well, but a very quick scan through of 752 looks like it's in the correct order. Nothing obviously whack.

Would you please point me to this script? Thanks.

Well I just ripped 815 and unfortunately, from casually skipping through, it also looks correct. So one of them is wrong but I can't tell from bumping through. Hopefully someone will watch the Redbox version and confirm.

RedBox 815 is correct
US Retail BluRay release is 821

You can use AnyDVD HD 7.4.2.2 beta to verify, it'll check the BD-J code to get the correct playlist that is fed to retail players.

If you'd like to know where the break is, the most obvious one is at 30 minutes, right as the kids sit down at the table to eat with Ender. After the 4 sit down, the bad playlists will skip to an unrelated scene. All the wrong sequences are in the first 35 minutes. The final title (on the US Retail release) is 512 which is 25gb. That's the quickest way to clear out a bunch of them. Look for the biggest sequence and verify in VLC that's the end of the movie.

Anyways, I thought I'd help you all. I registered to share this info.

Loiosh: thank you for that information. It does look like 752 skips weirdly at one point in the first 30 minutes, while 815 doesn't at the same scene. I haven't watched all the way through, but for-sure 752 is not it. I'll trust that 815 is correct and roll with it as my final. Thanks again.
