Thats also important i guess. When you are dealing with H264 not every I-Frame can be used as a Chapterpoint just IDR Frames

Every IDR Frame is an I Frame, but not every I Frame is an IDR Frame.

MAX CHANGE = 583977800ns, chapter sixteen, episode 4 part 4

I guess I'm wrong then, the maximum change is just a little over half a second. The chapters are in the wrong spots. I guess I'd need Split By M2TS to get the proper episodes without identifying the cut points manually. Since it's essentially a simple mux it should be easier to implement than Split By Chapters and should provide some of the infrastructure for the eventual addition of Split By Chapters as well. But... Maybe one day, until then...

According to AVIDemux '01:29:07.7590222' points to a b-frame, well into a GOP and nowhere near the beginning of the end credits. But it IS closer than the MakeMKV marker. The MakeMKV marker is one whole GOP and several frames away from the scene change. Bad authoring much?

Some chapters are shifted backwards a bit, some forwards but never by more than point six of a second. I guess it's possible the I-frames your chapters were on weren't actual IDR frames after all, I'm not sure how to tell (bi?).

mh today I ve ripped a movie with MMKV 1.8.10 and the chapterlist was fine (max offset of 3ms, compared with chaptergrabber)

But it was another movie.

Is there anything new about this? I also have the problem that some chapters start too early, which leads to glitches. Will this be changed/fixed?

Hmm, no reply to my question, so I guess MakeMKV's approach won't be changed.

Is there an easy way to adjust the chapters manually? I can try and adjust the chapters manually in chapter editor of Mkvtoolnix but that is really no fun. Can I grab the chapter information from Bluray somehow and adjust it in MKV file generated by MakeMKV?

It was not changed (next I-Frame), however there was a bug that caused an incorrect I-frame to be selected. It was fixed around 1.8.10 I think.

The chapters in mkv files created with 1.8.11 sometimes begin some ms too early, e.g. in converted movie "Cloud Atlas" nearly every chapter begins with a frame of the last chapter. So this is not changed because chapters should point to start of a GOP?

I too like to have this issue addressed. A simple option in the settings to disable timing correction is sufficient.

I experienced artifacts when using chapter seeking on Frozen 3D because of timing being changed by MakeMKV.

Is there an easy way to fix the chapter timings if MakeMKV's behaviour is not changed?

The most easy way I found out is:
- export chapter information from bluray with ChapterGen
- load generated OGG text file into chapter editor of mkvmergeGUI
- save chapter information into mkv file generated with MakeMKV before

Is there another way which is more easy?

Is there no other (more easy) way to fix the wrong chapter timings than the one described above?
