1.6.11 intermediate release

Post by mike admin »

If you experienced any problems with version 1.6.10 , please download an updated version from http://www.makemkv.com/download/1611 . This version should fix most of MKV problems of 1.6.10 but has too many other experimental changes, so it won't be released on regular download page. Please test whether 1.6.11 produces more compatible MKV files, and post your experience in this thread.

Not fixed.

WMP and MPC-HC both open the file much faster than before (no message about "buffering") but the playback is still not seekable.

Can you seek in the file?

Ah yes, I missed that, my mistake.

Let me download Zoomplayer and try it.

Zoom Player 8 RC2 also fails to seek within the files made my 1.6.11.

So as not to be accused of having poor source material; I will point out again that when created by 1.6.8 or 1.6.10 with the DLL's from 1.6.8 the file works perfectly in all players.

My test file has the following attributes if anyone wishes to try their own:

perhaps I am doing something wrong. if I need to look up the versions of my files, let me know (how). I had seek and buffer issues with .10. I went back to .08 when I found the thread about it. I saw some info about changing some lib files, but didn't read them. .08 worked fine. today I saw the thread about .11, installed it over .08 and was successful.

Find a Blu-ray disc that has similar properties to my file above:
# AVC encoded video
# 2 DTS audio tracks
# 1 subtitle track

Process it with MakeMKV and see if you can seek within the file.

Avatar, steelbook release. Region A B.

1.6.10 presents usual seeking errors in VLC and MPC-HC.

1.6.11 seek errors are fixed in VLC (1.1.10) but the video goes blocky immediately after seeking. MPC-HC crashes after seeking.

Remuxing the output of .11 with mkvmerge (to turn off 1st subtitles, and force 2nd subtitles)results in a file that VLC is unable to seek with. MPC-HC still crashes when seeking.

Have tested this myself, I concur with your results.
