"can't find any usable optical drives" Lite-On iHES112-04

Post by vharron »

Brand new custom built HTPC
Lite-On iHES112-04 12X Internal Blu-Ray/DVDRW Combo Drive

MakeMKV v1.7.7 win(x64-release) started
The program can't find any usable optical drives.

I've tried one Blu-ray and one DVD. I can browse the files on the discs, so the drive seems to be working.

Windows 7 SP1 w/all updates

Got past this by running MakeMKV as Administrator. I saw some posts related to this in my initial searches but I also saw some conflicting posts.

Can I humbly suggest that the program suggest running as Administrator if this error message is encountered?

It is mentioned:
Computer administrator privileges are required on Windows to run the beta version. This is limitation of Windows SCSI application programming interface. Eventually MakeMKV will not require administrator privileges to run.
