UHD-BD: Not Long Now!!!!

Post by LuekG »

It has been announced that Cyberlink PowerDVD has been given certification from the BDA for UHD-BD Playback.

Once PowerDVD 17 (I'm Assuming) has been released, I'm sure it won't take long for someone to work out what makes it tick and crack the copy protection for UHD!

Probably just a pipe dream, but hey, a step forward either way.

I'm already seeing 2160p 4K rips - mostly encoded with x264 HEVC 10bit - claiming UltraHD BluRay as their source.

I'll definitely be watching for a good UHD drive for PC.

They are using a 4k capture card to get the 4k source. I have a friend who uploads things in places and uses this. https://www.amazon.com/Blackmagic-Desig ... 4k+capture
There doesn't seem to be any real progress yet in cracking the encryption for discs yet.

I'm just hoping to be able to put all my UHD BD's on my NAS!
