LG BH16NS55 - no disc inserted

Post by vonMalm »

Hi,

I got an LG BH16NS55 (firmware 1.02) on this computer:
Win10Pro - 1803
Intel Core I9-7900X
MB: Asus Prime x299-A

When I insert an 4K movie in the drive, Windowns does not see the disc. MakeMKV does not see the disc either... :-(
Any idears how to solve this?

I thought that 1.02 firmware was ok, but I'm not familiar with that drive. However, the symptoms you describe indicate it's either not a UHD friendly drive or doesn't have compatible firmware. If it's similar to the LG WH16NS40, you may need to flash clean firmware to it. Follow the instructions in the other thread or contact one of the other forum members to flash the drive or buy a drive ready to go.

@vonMalm Not sure if this is the solution, try cleaning the disc by wiping it with a micro-fiber lens cleaner cloth and hope it works.

I tried with 3 diff titles and the drive have no problems reading BD, DVD and CDs
I will try to "downgrade" the firmware on top off the 1.02, to see if that helps.
