I do not have it, I can buy it. I have a photo of a specific model that I want to buy. Is it better to buy a more reliable model?
Before buying I can not connect it.

Just wanted to share a successful downgrading experience with this method, but also a couple tips that might help folks if they run into similar problems. I have a new LG WH16NS40 and I used the Windows 7 method. My motherboard has two SATA controllers and my drive is plugged into the Intel controller along with all of my hard drives. The DOSFLASH tool did not recognize any drives. I swapped the drive onto the ASrock SATA port, which has two ports on my motherboard that were unused, and it saw it right away. However, while reading the original firmware, the entire Windows 7 instance froze up completely multiple times, once at sector 30, and a couple times at sector 2. I just kept re-running it (after having to do a hard power off each time), and the last time I kept moving my mouse while it was reading...have no idea if that actually helped but in the end it worked! The other thing I did was I was originally saving the firmware to the USB drive, but the last time I saved to the created "my documents" folder. So that might have been an issue as well. I used the automatic data mover program to merge the ASUS 3.02 firmware, and then wrote the new firmware to the drive (all in the same Windows 7 session)...and held my breath because if it froze again I didn't know if the drive would be recoverable! It worked find though and after a reboot my drive identified as an Asus!

I've been trying to rip Spider-Man: Homecoming for a few hours (after a failed volume key for Deadpool 2), expecting it to go pretty quickly because previous regular blu-ray rips went fast with this drive, and I read that the Asus firmware is faster, which is why I did the crossflash. It's only been reading at 2x though, and failed the first time with several errors, presumably due to some smudges on the brand new disk. I'll try re-ripping some regular blu-rays though to see what the speed looks like, as perhaps it's just the UHD format. (And while I'm typing this, the read speed just jumped to 27 M/s, 6.5x, after 30 minutes of ripping.)

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the information on here and providing some useful tools to allow us to enjoy our movies!

ASUS BW-16D1HT

ASUS BW-16D1HT downgrade will have the same opportunities like Pioneer BLU-RAY BDR 211 EBK-BDR-211-EBK ? Or
a better but more expensive option will be Pioneer's choice.

Pioneer drive support has already been discussed multiple times and addressed by Mike himself (owner/developer of MakeMKV):

You need to READ this:

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... ver#p60673

https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic ... yce#p67006

You’ve already been told what the best options are multiple times. We CANNOT keep making it any clearer. But let’s try this again:

Get one of the supported drives, downgrade if necessary, and be done with it. That simple. Just make it easy on yourself and stop running around trying to find useless workarounds that won’t work.

Seriously,
I have ASUS drives in stock right now, that can be shipped TODAY, as in Saturday today. ASUS and LG, no drives starting with P :)

alexcoluzzi32@gmail.com if you email within an hour a drive will ship.

Asus 1.03? I think your out of luck must be from before 2015 you need 3.00+ to come from the factory for uhd disks to read

Hey guys I just bought the external Asus Blu Ray drive. I believe it's on the uhd friendly list. However it was just manufacturered in October 2018. So I am assuming it has newest firmware. I have Windows 10. Would I be able to downgrade the firmware on this drive? Image

What model number? Asus sells an external drive that has ALMOST the same model number as the UHD-friendly internal drives, but is completely unrelated hardware, and not even BD-XL capable.

I just bought the Asus BW-16D1HT Blu-ray drive and it has firmware 3.03. Is the firmware 3.01 best option for ripping 4K Blu-ray disks and how do I get clean 3.01 firmware? I already successfully read firmware from my drive by following your guide. Could someone help me and send me clean 3.01 firmware or even modifying it ready for me? I have added my current firmware that I read from drive to this post.

EDIT: Found the link to clean firmware from the guide. Didn't notice it before and successfully updated the firmware to 3.01.

What do you mean by "automatic tool"?
