How long do you need to rip UHD Bluerays?

Post by abra8c@gmail.com »

I have a LG BH16NS55 and it needs about 1h to rip UHD Bluerays.
I would like to buy a faster drive, but wich one is the fastest?

If you flash it to WH16NS60 it will shave a few mins off and that's about as fast as you are going to get

As Billy said, you can shave off a few minutes using NS60 firmware.

For UHD friendly firmware:

allow approx 1 hour for 3 layer UHD.
allow approx 45 minutes for 2 layer UHD.

For official UHD firmware:

allow approx 45-50 for 3 layer UHD.
allow approx 30-40 minutes for 2 layer UHD.
Cheers :D

I did a "benchmark":

LG BH16NS55 1.03 needed 51:30 to rip Lucy UHD

I have benched every firmware that was flashable on my BH16NS55.
Results also with Lucy(UHD):

39:01 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936
39:01 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BH16NS60-1.00-NM00500-211804030945
39:09 ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014
39:10 ASUS-BW-16D1H-U-A204-WM01001-211901041044
51:41 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BH16NS55-1.04-NM01701-211901041342
51:48 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BH16NS58-1.01-NM00500-211711161545

Than I have testet the best firmwares with another disk. Valerian(UHD):
41:22 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_WH16NS60-1.02-NM00100-211810291936
41:30 ASUS-BW-16D1HT-3.10-WM01601-211901041014

And I bought another drive (BU40N) with Lucy(UHD):
33:22 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-BU12-OM01001-211902230922
41:32 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-FR07-JM02202-211801221536
41:32 HL-DT-ST-BD-RE_BU40N-1.03-NM00000-211810241934

I think the BH16NS55 is despite the results still the better drive. The BU40N is much louder and needs longer to open the disk before the rip begins.

I hope this results can be useful for someone.

Well of course it takes longer when there are corrupt or invalid files. Looks like the drive doesn't read the disc as good as the other one?

Oh yes, you are right. Strange. I will retry it.
