This is a Pioneer drive and can't be flashed with Makemkv. You would need to have access to Windows. If so PM me or post again since you are too new.

The assumption is that he received a bad batch since he also sells that drive again. Look for the Verbatim that says 43888 in the description in Amazon. It will play UHDs right out-of-the-box. 1) AFAIK this doesn't affect burning but you should burn with you Pioneer anyway as this is the better burner (even it doesn't read UHDs anymore after you f..ed it up).

2) The official firmware from WH16NS60 doesn't have the sleep bug and it reads 3-layer discs better than the friendly ASUS firmware.
