Help with Failure of 1 Disc, Blade Runner Final Cut

Post by SolomonJ »

Out of my 25 or so UHD discs, this is the only one that fails every time. Below is drive/disc info and errors I see. I understand others are able to do this one, and I'm wondering if it's because I'm on a Mac with the drive in an external NexStar DX enclosure. Any thoughts? I have also tried a friend's physical disc and it behaves the same, so I'm sure it's not actually a media error. I've gone through the FAQ's without much success and would appreciate any insight if others have seen this.

What is your question?
You have a disc read error. There is a link at the bottom of the status screen.

Does not matter if the disc is brand new out of the package. Could be the disc itself, something on the disc from the factory even if the disc looks clean, or the drive having a mismatch with the disc.

I have the same problem with this Disc... always fails. All other UHD discs have been ok.

I'm using an ASUS bluray burner/reader.

Did you check out the links?

While I doubt your IPC problems are power-related (the Asus drive is not USB-powered), there is still the problem that the drive encounters a read error, and stops talking to the Mac for a while.

If multiple attempts fail at the same offset, there is a very good chance that the problem is on the disk itself. If cleaning with a damp, soft cloth doesn't fix it, you should return it for replacement. It is very possible to have residue on the disk that you cannot see, but is like a brick wall between the blue laser and the disk.
